A large, long-established not-for-profit organisation, employing 2,000+ staff, supporting 8,000+ people annually and operating across 100+ service locations, was navigating an increasingly competitive environment following the introduction of the NDIS. With shifting funding models and heightened expectations, the organisation needed to strengthen its market position, brand clarity and stakeholder communication, with risk of fragmented messaging and missed opportunities to build reputation at scale
The executive team required a Director of Marketing and Communications to lead an integrated function aligned to a five-year strategic plan. The role called for a senior leader capable of shaping positioning, driving campaigns across multiple channels and engaging effectively with a broad stakeholder group – including participants, families, government and community partners. For Hope & Glory, the brief was to identify a candidate with both strategic capability and the ability to deliver in a values-led, service-driven environment.
We partnered closely with senior stakeholders to refine the brief, ensuring alignment on leadership style, sector understanding and delivery expectations. Market mapping focused on experienced marketing and communications leaders from complex service environments. A targeted search approach was undertaken, with candidates assessed for their ability to balance commercial thinking with purpose, lead teams and deliver measurable outcomes. Throughout, we maintained a structured, transparent process with clear advice at each stage.
A strong appointment was secured, bringing clear direction to marketing and communications activity and aligning efforts with organisational strategy. The individual strengthened brand positioning, improved engagement across stakeholder groups and introduced a more structured, outcomes-focused approach to marketing. The result: a more cohesive function supporting growth, reputation and long-term sustainability in a competitive sector.
“Leadership in a purpose-driven organisation requires more than technical skill – it demands alignment to mission, clarity of thinking and the ability to deliver in complex environments. This search demonstrated the value of a thoughtful, specialist approach.”
